Our Story

Bihar ka asli swaad, apno ke liye

दू गो महिला, एक गो सपना

Two women. One shared love for authentic Bihari food. A kitchen built on generations of family recipes — and a nationally recognised promise of purity, honesty, and the taste of home.

"

Ghar Ka Swaad, Apno Ke Liye

Every Thekua, every Perukiya, every Nimki is made with the same care our mothers and grandmothers put into their festival cooking — because that's the taste that brings home closer, no matter where you live.

How It Began

Two women. One longing for home. One decision to do something about it.

Millions of Biharis live away from Bihar. In every city, during every festival, the same conversation repeats: "Woh wala Thekua yahan nahi milta." That jaggery-sweetened, desi-ghee-fried Thekua. Those khoya-stuffed Perukiya shaped by hand. That crisp Nimki at every chai sitting back home.

Mallika Singh — nationally honoured as a Shrestha Icon of Bharat on NDTV — had something rare: the living memory of those recipes, passed down from her mother and grandmother in Bihar. Every Thekua she made could transport anyone straight back to a Bihari kitchen. The ratio of atta to gur. The warmth of the desi ghee. The instinct for when it's done. All of it lives in her hands.

Pallavi Priyanka — MBA professional, deeply Bihari at heart — saw in Mallika's craft what every Bihari away from home had been looking for: food that was actually made the right way. She brought the business structure, the operational rigour, and the vision to take Mallika's kitchen to every Bihari home in India.

"Yeh bilkul vaisa hi hai jaise maa banati thi."

That one sentence — said by everyone who tasted Mallika's food — is why Apna Swad exists. Together they built it: Mallika leads the kitchen, Pallavi leads the business. And every single batch that ships carries one simple question as its quality standard: Would I serve this to my own family?

Mallika Singh

Mallika is the soul of Apna Swad. Every Thekua that leaves our kitchen began in her hands — with the ratio of atta to gur, the warmth of the desi ghee, and the instinct for when the dough is ready, all inherited from her mother and grandmother in Bihar. She runs the kitchen, trains the team, and ensures nothing leaves without her approval.

Recognised nationally as a Shrestha Icon of Bharat on NDTV, Mallika brings a combination of lived tradition and professional discipline that is rare in the food industry. Her standard is one simple question: "Would I serve this to my own family?" If the answer is anything less than yes, it starts again.

"Jo Thekua hum apne bachchon ko nahi khila sakte, woh kabhi kisi aur ke ghar nahi jaayega. Yehi mera vaada hai."

Pallavi Priyanka

Pallavi is Bihari through and through — and her connection to this brand is as personal as it gets. The Thekua frying in desi ghee before Chhath, the Perukiya her mother shaped by hand, the Nimki that was always there at chai time — these are her memories too. When she joined Apna Swad as Co-founder, it wasn't just a business decision. It was a homecoming.

An MBA graduate from Sikkim Manipal University and a former HR professional, Pallavi manages the full business operation — supply chain, logistics, customer experience, and growth strategy. She is the bridge between Mallika's kitchen and every customer's doorstep. Her people-first thinking means the team behind every batch is as cared for as the food itself.

"Bihari hona sirf ek identity nahi hai — yeh ek ehsaas hai. Woh swaad jo maa ke haath mein tha, woh Apna Swad ke zariye har ghar tak pahunchana chahti hoon."

Why We Do This

The food industry has forgotten what "homemade" means

We see it every day — and it's the exact problem we set out to solve.

Adulteration is everywhere

Cheap vegetable oil passed off as ghee. Artificial colours in jaggery. Preservatives in everything. Packaged sweets that have nothing in common with what our grandmothers made.

Missing home shouldn't feel this heavy

Millions of Biharis live away from Bihar. The food that once reminded us of mothers and grandmothers has become hard to find — and harder to trust. That's exactly what we're fixing.

The Sacred Offering
Chhath Puja
Thekua
Prepared with ritual purity, for the sun god and your family
Chhath Puja · Our Most Important Promise

We can't bring you home for Chhath — but we can bring home to you

For every Bihari, Chhath Puja is not just a festival — it is identity, memory, family. And Thekua is at the heart of it. For those who can't travel home, the absence is felt deeply.

But what we can promise is this: the Thekua you offer at your window on Chhath evening will have the same taste, the same purity, the same devotion as the one prepared in a Bihari household back home.

Our Chhath Puja Thekua is prepared differently. Mallika personally oversees every Chhath batch — following the same ritual purity of a Bihari household: clean kitchen, freshly washed hands, pure desi ghee, real jaggery, no shortcuts. It is made with devotion first, and as food second.
What We Stand For

Four principles. Zero compromise.

Handmade with care

Every Thekua shaped by hand. Every Perukiya filled and sealed by hand. No industrial moulds, no shortcuts. Our hands, our recipes, our care in every piece.

Pure ingredients, nothing hidden

Pure desi ghee. Real jaggery. Whole wheat flour. Genuine khoya. Zero preservatives, zero artificial colours. If we wouldn't serve it to our own children, it doesn't go in.

Maa wali taste, every time

Our recipes aren't written in cookbooks — they're remembered. Passed down from grandmother to mother. Measured by hand, tasted as we go, adjusted with instinct.

Trust you can verify

FSSAI Licensed. GST Registered. Nationally recognised on NDTV. Every ingredient listed, every process transparent. Trust isn't claimed — it's earned through consistency.
